College ad network launched by ONA/AdOhio
Eight college student newspapers are founding members of the Ohio College 2X2 Display Ad Network, launched Feb. 2 by ONA and its subsidiary, AdOhio. The new network offers statewide and regional advertisers a convenient and cost-effective way to place their ads into an entire group of student publications through a single sales contact.
Network ads are ordered for publication over a seven-day period. For $600, an advertiser can place an ad one time in each of the participating student newspapers. Under the terms of the network, students at the campus newspapers may sell ads into the network and retain 70% for their newspaper.
The eight founding campus newspapers have a combined circulation of more than 100,000. They are:
- The Buchtelite, University of Akron
- The Collegian, Ashland University
- The Pulse, University of Findlay
- The Daily Kent Stater, Kent State University
- The Transcript, Ohio Wesleyan University
- The Tan & Cardinal, Otterbein College
- The Clarion, Sinclair Community College
- The Independent Collegian, University of Toledo
“We think this is a win-win venture,” says Frank Deaner, ONA executive director. “A great way for advertisers to reach this very significant demographic and, at the same, providing the opportunity for campus newspaper staff to bring in additional revenue to support an important campus activity.” Additional campus newspapers may join the network at any time.
