Ohioan is National Carrier of the Year
Jon Lucas, a carrier for The Findlay Courier for nearly four years, has been named Youth Carrier of the Year by the Newspaper Association of America. During a March 13 reception at The Courier, he was presented with the trophy and a $250 cash award by Rob Jenney, The Courier’s assistant circulation manager and past president of the Ohio Circulation Managers Association (in photo). As the winner of OCMA’s 2008 contest, Lucas was entered in the NAA competition. Lucas will graduate with honors from McComb High School this spring, at the same time graduating from Owens Community College with an Associates Degree in sociology. He is the second Courier youth carrier to receive this national honor in the past three years. Karl Heminger, Courier publisher, and Ed Heminger, chairman of Findlay Publishing Co., were among those paying tribute at the March 13 event.
