ONA, AdOhio welcome two summer interns

Cameron Glover & Kristen ReidCameron Glover and Kristen Reid have joined the ONA/AdOhio staff as student-interns for the summer. Both are from Ohio University.

Glover, who is working for ONA, is originally from Centerville. She will be a senior at OU in the fall and is majoring in magazine journalism.

Before attending OU, she spent her first two years of college at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., where she participated in the Journalism Education Association and the Excellence in Leadership program. She transferred to Athens this past fall upon her acceptance into the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.

Now a proud Bobcat, Glover is an active member of the student chapters of the Society for Professional Journalists and the Association for Women in Communications. Both organizations publish biweekly newsletters that she will be the co-managing editor of next year. She also has previously contributed to OU’s student-run online magazine, Speakeasy, and her hometown weekly newspaper, The Centerville-Bellbrook Times.

Glover has plans to fulfill her Spanish specialization by spending a quarter in either Mexico or Spain next year. Upon graduation, which may take an extra quarter or so, she hopes to be accepted into a law school program and pursue a degree in journalism law.

Reid, who is working for AdOhio, is going into her third year at OU in the advertising management sequence. Also a student in the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, she has planned a double major in advertising and information graphics and publication design with a double specialization in psychology and marketing.

The Dublin native was encouraged by high school English teachers to apply to the Scripps School. Reid started out in the school’s news writing and editing sequence and made the change to advertising to pursue something that evoked her creativity.

Reid is a member of OU’s Ad Club and is the purchasing coordinator and member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.

She also had an internship last summer with Passport Health, which is the largest provider for immunization services in the country. Reid worked with the company’s advertising promotions committee.

Both students will be in ONA/AdOhio’s Columbus office for ten weeks ending on August 28. The paid internships are provided by The Ohio Newspapers Foundation.
