With the announcement of the program for ONA’s 2010 Convention, members and guests can look forward to outstanding speakers and topical sessions but in a new format that is easy on time, travel and budget. By condensing the format to a Wednesday-Thursday program, Feb. 10 and 11, registration fees have been substantially reduced.
With the special ONA room rate at the Columbus Hilton at Easton, participants of recent conventions should see their combined cost of hotel and registration cut to about half of what it has been.
What has not been cut — and actually enhanced — is the quality of the program which includes some prominent newsmakers along with sessions addressing cutting-edge issues in the newspaper business.
Kicking off the Thursday program is breakfast speaker Brian Kelly, football coach of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats, who has led an amazing turnaround with his team destined for a major bowl appearance and prominence as a new national power. The featured luncheon speaker is Ari Shapiro, Washington-based justice correspondent for National Public Radio, whose beat includes national security issues and anti-terrorism surveillance.
The Thursday sessions also include a panel discussion of online pricing models, an update on the revolutionary new distribution model being used by the Detroit newspapers and emerging audience strategies presented by Barbara Cohen, one of the nation’s leading consultants in the field of marketing strategy. It all starts with early-arrival meetings on Wednesday and the welcome reception that evening.
Rooms at the Hilton Columbus at the special ONA rate are limited, so don’t delay in making your reservations. The cutoff date is Jan. 25!
Complete registration materials have been mailed to all ONA members. Program details are also available by clicking here. Make your plans now and take advantage of these new reduced registration fees to include your key staff!
