Convention session looks at new print distribution ideas
It’s been nearly a year since the Detroit Media Partnership made national headlines with announcement of a revolutionary new plan for print editions, replacing four days of home delivery with replica e-editions. The results may provide a key for decisions by other publishers, so the ONA Convention has a session designed to view those results.
Janet Hasson, the Detroit Partnership’s senior vice president for audience development & strategy, and Rich Harshbarger, vice president for consumer marketing, will lead the hour-long session which is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, at the Hilton Columbus at Easton Town Center. Their presentation will include the strategic planning involved in the new delivery model as well as results thus far.
Hasson joined the Gannett Corporation in 1997, serving as a circulation and marketing executive in Cincinnati, Boise and Rochester. She has been in Detroit for the past five years. Harshbarger, who oversees community affairs and all reader promotions, handled all the communications efforts surrounding the delivery model change. He has been with Gannett for 15 years. The Detroit Media Partnership operates joint business functions of the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News.
The ONA Convention begins with a Welcome Reception at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, sponsored by The Blade, Toledo, and concludes after a full day of sessions on Thursday, Feb. 11. Registration fees have been reduced to $150 for the entire program! Take advantage of the savings and sign up for this valuable convention program!
