The Ohio Democratic Party has gone to court to try to force Gov. John Kasich to release his calendars.
Kasich’s office says it already has complied with the public records law.
The party, which is seeking the order in Franklin County Common Pleas Court, has filed a series of public records requests in recent months requesting Kasich’s calendars, including documents that show his schedule months in advance.
The Republican governor has “completely ignored, or only partially responded to” the requests, the Democrats said.
“It’s unfortunate that this governor is so opposed to transparency and public disclosure that we have to ask the court to force him to follow the law,” Ohio Democratic Chairman Chris Redfern said Tuesday in a news release. “Serious questions remain regarding whether the governor has improperly used his office for the benefit of Mitt Romney, and it’s deeply disappointing Kasich is so secretive he won’t even tell the public what he’s done, or where he’s gone.”
