By Nancy Lane, Local Media Association
Dear LMA Members and Industry Friends,
I am so excited to release the 2014 Innovation Mission report today.
The 44-page report identifies 11 top takeaways from our week-long study tour that included visits with some of the world’s most innovative technology and media companies. Some are immediately actionable; others are disruptive and will require strategic planning with your team. All should be of great interest to anyone running a local media company.
The list touches on a wide variety of topics including content strategies, emerging revenue trends, upcoming opportunity areas and even eliminating inter-company email. Perhaps my favorite section is the participant feedback area where senior-level executives share what they are going to do as a result of attending the IM. This year that section is four pages long and robust with actionable items. There is also a section about opportunity areas including invites to a few beta programs from Google, O2/Automattic and LinkedIn. Finally, there is a top ten action plan list for you and your team to consider.
The report is being sold at a bargain price of only $299. Attendees paid $4,195 to attend plus travel to/from the starting and ending locations. While the report could not possibly replace the in-person experience, it does provide great value. I will also host a webinar on July 11 at 3 PM ET/2 PM CT with several of the IM participants to discuss the takeaways in more detail. The webinar is included in the price of the report.
Honestly, the 2014 IM was one of the best business experiences of my life. The Local Media Foundation’s goal is to share the learnings from this week with the entire industry. I hope you will purchase the report and reach out to me with any questions. And if for any reason you don’t find value in it, I’m happy to refund the money immediately.
Thanks and have a great day!
