Deb Zwez, publisher of the Wapakoneta Daily News, has been appointed to the ONA Board of Trustees by Board President Karl Heminger.
Zwez fills the unexpired term of Scott Champion, who recently left his position with Civitas Media.
She started her career with the Daily News in 1983 as a reporter and returned as publisher in 2012. Zwez returned to Wapakoneta via the Evening Leader newspaper in St. Marys, where she worked as publisher since 2006, and the Community Post, a weekly newspaper in Minster, where she worked as the manager since late 2001.
All three newspapers are part of the Horizon Publications group of newspapers. She also worked as a reporter for the Daily Chief Union in Upper Sandusky in the late 1980s, before returning to the Wapakoneta paper as its editor in 1989. From 1996-2001, she served as the executive director of the Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce.
Zwez is married and the mother of a 16-year-old. Active in the Wapakoneta community, she serves on the board of directors for the Wapakoneta Family YMCA, the Wapakoneta Chamber of Commerce, the Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council and the Rotary Club of Wapakoneta.
