Ohio veteran journalist Michael Williams has been named content manager at the Delaware (Ohio) Gazette. The announcement was made Aug. 20 by Jim Lawitz, director of content for Civitas Media, the newspaper’s parent company.
“We’re thrilled to have found someone who will be an excellent fit at the Delaware newspaper and in the community,” Lawitz said. “Williams’ ability to understand community issues will be a key benefit to making the Gazette a better newspaper.”
Williams most recently worked as an opinion page editor for the Dayton Daily News, the Springfield News-Sun and the Journal-News in Butler County, all owned by Cox Media Group Ohio.
Previously, he served as the editor/associate publisher of the Middletown (Ohio) Journal where he worked for most of his career. During his tenure at Middletown, he had also worked as a copy editor, reporter, city editor and assistant managing editor.
“I am very excited about coming to Delaware – to work in a vibrant, growing community and to join a dedicated staff of journalists at the Gazette,” Williams said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know community residents and telling their stories, as well as hearing their ideas about improving the Gazette.”
Williams said he will also be focused on improving the Gazette’s social media presence and engaging readers in a variety of formats.
