Kasich wins 4 month battle with AP for clarification

In an unusual move, the Associated Press has clarified a story about Gov. John Kasich – more than four months after the story appeared.

The original AP story, which was published Oct. 20 2014, suggested Kasich did not believe the Affordable Care Act – known as Obamacare – would be repealed.

The story infuriated Kasich, who is a possible 2016 Republican presidential candidate. He quickly denounced Obamacare and said he wanted it repealed. He had instead been talking about only one part of the Affordable Care Act, he said – Medicaid expansion.

Kasich has been criticized by some tea party Republicans for differentiating between Obamacare and Medicaid, since the governor accepted federal money via the Affordable Care Act to expand Medicaid in Ohio.

"We're pleased that they have addressed their error," Kasich spokesman Rob Nichols said Wednesday. AP spokesman Paul Colford said: "I'm going to let the clarification speak for itself."
