By Ann Riggs

Twenty six applications have been received for the various journalism scholarships offered by The Ohio Newspapers Foundation. Judging is now underway to determine the winners for 2015.

Deb Zwez, publisher of the Wapakoneta Daily News and The Community Post, and Dick Morris, quality director at Celina Daily Standard are judges for the Minority Scholarship offered to an Ohio high school senior.

David Dix, publisher of Record Publishing Company, and Frank Deaner, retired executive director of The Ohio Newspaper Association, are judging the applicants for the three University Scholarships. Emily Chambers, group vice president, human resources for Cox Media Group is judging the applications for the ONWA Annual Scholarship, awarded to a male or female Ohio University or college student.

Applicants must be majoring in a field relevant to our industry, particularly journalism, advertising, marketing, or a communications degree program at an Ohio college or university. Winners will be announced in early May. A total of $7,500 in scholarships will be awarded.

We want to thank all of our judges for contributing their expertise and time towards this important project.
