Ohio General Assembly honors The Medina County Gazette

From The Medina Gazette

State Sen. Larry Obhof, R-Montville Township, commended The Gazette on Wednesday for winning the 2015 Best Newspaper in Ohio Award in the 75,000 or less circulation category in the Ohio Excellence in Journalism competition sponsored by the Press Club of Cleveland.

Gazette publisher George Hudnutt was awarded a resolution from Obhof on the Senate floor in Columbus. As a third-generation publisher, Hudnutt said he was honored to accept the recognition.

Senate members of the 131st General Assembly also lauded The Gazette for distinguishing itself as one of Ohio’s finest news publications. It said those associated with the paper are deserving of praise and that the paper will continue to be a vital and valued community resource.

The resolution commended the paper for its comprehensive coverage of current events and of important issues that affect the community.

As a small business owner, Hudnutt said he appreciates the state Senate’s support of small businesses in order to strengthen Ohio’s economy and to promote growth in our community.

“There is still something to be said about holding a paper in your hand, sharing news with the family, reading the funnies with your kids or completing a crossword puzzle,” Hudnutt said. “The Gazette has strived to be a trustworthy news source for the community.

“I would like to thank my Gazette team for continuously striving to deliver unbiased and objective reporting of global and local news, which affects our subscribers’ lives. I’d also like to thank our loyal readers, who have voted us the Best of the Best.”

The Gazette has been published since 1832.
