Rob Rohr, vice president of sales & marketing for Cox Ohio Publishing, will lead off the session with an overview of industry trends. He’ll touch on the traditional print categories of auto, recruitment and real estate, as well as the effects of competitors such as Craig’s List. Rohr will also cite best practices as newspapers evolve with online solutions and updated sales methods.
Jeff Beaudette, president of Online Media Solutions, will present new ways to increase revenues by maximizing web-based classified advertising products. His presentation will include:
- Connecting print & Internet in new ways
- Changing your newsprint layout & leaving your competitors behind
- Simple & innovative steps to dominate your real estate, rental & job markets
- Marketing to attorneys, appraisers & agents in ways that most ad sales reps are not familiar with
The afternoon segment will include critiques of individual Ohio newspaper websites and ways to improve the classified advertising tools on those sites.
The closing segment will be devoted to group discussion and answers to specific questions.

The Instructors

Jeff Beaudette is president of Online Media Solutions, which specializes in Web-based products to enhance newspapers’ revenues and provides ways to enhance newspapers’ online content and meet the ever increasing tie-in with print and online services. In the past 10 years, Beaudette has partnered and consulted with over 200 newspapers. Two years ago, he opened three Web sites covering employment, apartment and automotive classifieds and has taken on a variety of private party initiatives. He combined all those entities into Online Media Solutions.

Over his fifteen year career with Cox Newspapers, Rob Rohr has been a key architect in building and developing customer centric sales strategies to position Cox Newspaper Media properties as the local leader in consumer and business to business advertising solutions in Southwest Ohio. As the vice president of sales and marketing for Cox Ohio Publishing, he leads a team of over 250 professionals supporting four daily and seven weekly newspapers, a variety of news and niche local web properties, turnkey direct mail and commercial print operations as well as the region’s only local monthly business magazine DaytonB2B.
The Facility
Located in a suburb just east of Columbus, the Pickerington Center is a 15,000-square foot state-of-the-art facility. It features six ergonomically-designed classrooms equipped with technologically advanced instructional equipment. The site backs up to a wooded area and creek, a view that can be enjoyed from one of three lower-level patios. The center is a 12-15 minute commute from downtown Columbus or the airport. It has ample parking and many nearby hotels and restaurants.

The Ohio University Pickerington Center is located about 10 miles east of downtown Columbus.
Take I-70 East to Pickerington exit #112A (State Route 256)
Proceed on State Route 256 for one mile (you can only go one way off this exit, south)
Turn left (at third light) onto Stonecreek Drive (US Bank on the corner)
Proceed a quarter-mile to Pickerington Center (on right)
