ONMA starts search for new executive director

The ONMA has formally launched a search for a new president and executive director to replace current CEO Dennis Hetzel, who has announced that he and his wife plan to retire and move to North Carolina in 2019.

Ron Waite, publisher of the Sandusky Register and vice president of the ONMA board of trustees, is heading the committee of ONMA trustees that will select Hetzel’s successor.

"During the past eight years Dennis has led ONMA through some difficult industry times with a steady hand and an outstanding staff," Waite said. "He will be leaving our organization in solid shape for the future. While we will definitely miss Dennis and his leadership, the organization is eager to begin the search to find his successor to lead us into the next chapter of our ever-morphing industry."

The board’s plan is for the new executive director to be introduced at the February 2019 convention in Columbus and work side-by-side with Hetzel during the first quarter of 2019.

“We’ll have a new governor, a new legislative session and a new state budget at the start of 2019,” Hetzel said. “My goal will be to do everything I can to help my successor get up and running – including whatever we face with the politicians.”

The ONMA has posted the position at www.ohionews.org and elsewhere. To view the job posting and position requirements, click here.
