Gove appointed to ONA board
Scott Gove, president of the Shelby Daily Globe News Group, has been appointed to ONA’s board of trustees. In announcing the appointment, ONA president Ken Douthit, Douthit Communications, indicated that Gove will represent daily newspapers of under 10,000 circulation in filling an unexpired term that goes to February 2010.
The Shelby group includes The Daily Globe, a 4,200 circulation Monday-through-Saturday daily; The Willard Times-Junction, a twice-weekly community newspaper; and the following weekly newspapers: The New London Record, The Firelands Farmers and The Shopper’s Helper. The Daily Globe was founded in 1900.
Gove, who graduated from Purdue University with a degree in industrial management, first joined The Daily Globe in 1972. He worked with his father, Ken, who started with The Daily Globe in 1960. Scott became president in 2006.
Gove’s appointment fills the last of three vacancies on the ONA board, dating back to earlier this year. Douthit made the appointments following the June ratification of bylaws amendments redefining the circulation categories for seats on the ONA board. The board consists of six trustees representing daily newspapers over 50,000 circulation; three trustees representing daily newspapers of 10,000 to 50,000 circulation; three trustees representing daily newspapers under 10,000 circulation; and six trustees representing weekly newspapers.
The next meeting of the board is scheduled for Oct. 10.
