ONA hosting event for collegiate newspapers

ONA and The Tan & Cardinal, the student newspaper at Otterbein College, are co-hosting a reception on Nov. 20 for faculty advisors and student leaders from collegiate newspapers throughout Ohio. The event is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the Otterbein campus in Westerville.

The purpose of the informational meeting is to brief the advisors on the services available through ONA membership as well as gauging interest in a potential statewide collegiate advertising network operated through ONA’s subsidiary AdOhio. The advisors are also being encouraged to bring copies of their newspapers for sharing with others and additional networking.

“In the two years since we established a category of membership for our campus newspapers, we’ve been gratified by the increasing numbers of members and inquiries,” says Frank Deaner, ONA executive director. “We look forward to further developing this partnership and offering additional means to support this important group of upcoming newspaper people.”

Hillary Warren, advisor to The Tan & Cardinal, is assisting with the Nov. 20 event along with Chris Underation, advisor to The Pulse, at the University of Findlay. Both are members of ONA.

ONA members who work with other university newspapers are encouraged to pass on information about the Nov. 20 reception. Additional questions should be directed to Frank Deaner at ONA.
