Spring training to end on May 6
The May 6 session on “Growing Audience with your Web site” will close out the spring portion of ONA’s Newspaper Staff Training Calendar (see related story in box). The one-day workshop is scheduled for the Ohio University Center in the Columbus suburb of Pickerington.
Led by Jay Small of Scripps Interactive Newspaper Group, the session will include tips and success stories on using traditional news content plus mobile platforms, link journalism, animated graphics, blogs and how to manage interactivity. As executive director for content and product development at the Knoxville-based Scripps group, Small works with 13 newspaper-based sites.
He directs technology developers, project managers, designers and search marketing specialists.
Small also operates Small Initiatives, Inc., a consulting practice whose clients have included the American Press Institute, Brass Tacks Design, individual newspapers and non-newspaper businesses.
This is an excellent training opportunity for anyone involved with an ONA member Web site, from publishers to Web managers, designers and reporters. For complete program details and online registration visit training.ohionews.org.
The deadline for this session has been extended to noon on Monday, May 4, so don’t delay!
