The Jackson Youth Basketball Association held its scheduled Meet the Team Night on Thursday at Jackson High School’s auditorium.
That’s just what it needed to do after felony charges had been leveled against a former coach earlier in the day, according to people around the program.
“Everybody was supporting the program — parents, kids everybody needed this tonight,” said Jeff Wingard, who has a child playing basketball for Strasser Elementary School. “I’m glad they kept (Meet the Team) on.”
… Longtime Jackson freshman coach Scott D. Studer was charged Wednesday with six counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-related material for video-taping members of the boys basketball team. He resigned his coaching position as well as his building aide job and is in jail on a $2 million bond
DiLoreto then had a 5 p.m. press conference that also was attended by parents of team members asking questions.
It led to a parents-only meeting with DiLoreto prior to Thursday’s Meet the Team session. The media was told that was a closed meeting, and that it also could not attend the Meet the Team event.
