From The Newark Advocate
Gannett Publishing Services will cease printing operations at The Advocate’s plant downtown during 2014, the company told employees Thursday.
All production work for The Advocate and numerous other daily and weekly newspapers, including USA Today, and specialty publications instead will be handled by The Dispatch Printing Co. at its facility in Columbus. There are no plans to change the format of The Advocate or other Media Network of Central Ohio newspapers, however the newsprint will be slightly narrower.
About 45 full-time and 29 part-time jobs will be impacted, although many employees will have an opportunity to apply for new positions in Columbus.
The transition to Columbus will occur over several months and is expected to be completed at the end of May. This change is not expected to significantly change delivery times of The Advocate. Consumers will continue to receive the timely news and information they currently receive from The Advocate on all platforms – digitally or in print.
