Repository readers have been informed and entertained for almost 45 years by images captured with the camera — and the creative eyes — of veteran photographer Stan Myers.
The diversity of his working days, and the pictures that resulted from his labor, appealed to him.
“I liked never knowing what was going to happen from one day to another,” he said.
His near-daily photographs no longer will appear on the pages of The Repository. Myers has retired after nearly 45 years with the newspaper — the last 25 of them as the publication’s chief photographer.
“He has been a witness to many important moments in Canton, Stark County and The Repository’s history,” said Executive Editor Therese D. Hayt. “His knowledge of our area and business cannot be replaced. Stan has mentored many editors over the years. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to get to work with him.”
