- The ability to work flexible hours to cover developing stories
- A knowledge of page layout, with experience in Adobe InDesign preferred.
Other preferred qualifications include a college degree in journalism, photography experience with professional model cameras, and experience writing obituaries.
General Manager & Ad Director / American Consolidated Media
This position is responsible for meeting revenue goals, meeting EBITDA expectations and being the front line supervisor for the sales team, editor, circulation manager and business office clerk. The General Manager/Ad Director will also be the primary contact of the newspaper for other community leaders.
The General Manager will report to the Regional Operations Director for all operations items and will report to the Regional Sales Director as his duties pertain to advertising revenue. The GM/Ad Director is expected to train and /or recruit sales professionals who will ensure that the location meets its sales performance goals; will supervise the circulation manager, editor and business office clerk in their day to day duties and will be responsible for making sure the Circleville location meets expected EBITDA and sales targets, particularly as it pertains to growing digital revenue. This position will set sales goals for the Circleville team and will provide training as needed and accompany them on sales calls as needed. The Ad Director will also be expected to personally pursue prospects and develop key accounts for the market.

The Chillicothe Gazette Media in Chillicothe, Ohio, has an immediate opening for a Photographer. Responsibilities include taking photos and video footage for all products on all platforms with emphasis on breaking news, local content and targeted audiences. Performs varied work involving routine and basic photo/video assignments, including basic reporting and social media posting.
Photojournalism or visual communications degree or equivalent experience
Previous newspaper experience preferred
Possess proficient working knowledge of Macintosh computers, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office software, smartphones such as the iPhone, Nikon and/or Canon camera systems, video shooting and editing with iMovie, studio lighting, remote sending to FTPs or other cloud storage, image scanning, social media platforms.

Valid Ohio drivers license required, meet minimum state insurance requirements.

Weekly Newspaper Editor / Loudonville Times
Due to the impending retirement of the longtime editor on March 1, 2014, the search is on for a new editor of the weekly Loudonville Times located in North Central Ohio. It’s going to be a difficult job to fill, but a great opportunity for someone who appreciates small-town life and small-town news. It’s not a job for someone who plans a two-to-three year stay.
This editor does it all, planning and executing virtually all the copy for the 1,500 circulation community weekly and its website. In addition, he or she provides coverage of the area for the daily Ashland Times-Gazette, an 11,500 circulation county-seat daily. Page design and final editing are done by the Ashland staff.
Loudonville is a charming village of 2,700 with a vibrant downtown in the midst of the hills and streams of the Mohican tourism country. Anchored by the Mohican State Park, the area features canoeing, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, boating and skiing. Major league sporting and cultural opportunities of two metro areas are within 90 minutes.
